Bungie/Sony have announced that MARATHON will launch sometime in March of 2026! Which is only a few months away! While we ourselves here at MarathonHub have been away for a while, we are still very excited! Bungie has seem to overhauled a lot of visuals when it comes to Marathon and it’s world. Back in April of 2025, we got our hands on the public version of the Playtest that tens of thousands of players were able to and the outside world/environments felt..flat, dull and outright boring. Well since that playtest and numerous others, it seems bungie have listened to the community and vastly changed almost everything about the outside environments and lighting. However, this is not the only change! In a recent ViDoc, Bungie expresses that they

Bungie has seem to do a complete 180 from the entire feel of Marathon, making it seem more dark, gritty and eerie.
They seem to have gone away with loot bags when a runner dies and replaced them with the runner corpses themselves. As more loot it taken/time goes on the dead runner will decay and become less recognizable.
