I’ve got a very limited amount of knowledge on the old lore of Marathon (1994) but with some general love for various traits of the world, I did my own research into it. This is a bit more personal but this was something simple I discovered on my own during the Alpha: I was attempting to figure out more of the factions to see where I would want to “align” myself during this beginning period where its getting more prevalent in fan interactions. This is some information from the Fandom page about MIDA that led me to settle on them:
MIDA was a popular political party, turned terrorist organization that was active on Mars. The organization advocated for the independence of Mars, opposing UESC’s control over the planet and was notorious for its long ranging policies and politicking.
It was these details that reminded me of Glitch (my main and someone who I love the design and style of dearly) who was working as a “martian freedom fighter” and I’m now certain the two are related in some way.
I’m very excited to learn more and more about this world and especially the runners. Seeing people working on timelines and other lore tidbits makes me very happy and I cannot wait to properly sink my teeth into this world.
