The end of the “Marathon” Closed Alpha has come, and with it we see the approaching future starting with some discussion coming later this week.
As the Alpha servers close with the Dangerous Days extension coming to an end, a post from "Marathon" on BlueSky thanks the players for their time and feedback. The alpha has had plenty to discuss—with talks of Marathon's playercount during the alpha and various feedback that is both positive and negative, there’s a lot of questions around how Bungie is going to be moving forwards. We’ve already seen some of this—the Marathon patch notes for week 2 already highlighted some of the shifts they’re making as well as the developer’s take on aspects of the game such as the power of shields and certain weapons.
The Marathon BlueSky account was quick to note that there will also be more discussion with their “PlayMA” on May 8th at 1pm PT, already setting up for discussing what is coming next in addition to their first direct talk with us concerning the feedback given during the alpha. Considering how in the dark players were concerning Marathon before their original Reveal Showcase back on April 12th, the check in is greatly appreciated as many players, myself included, wait excitedly for what comes next. With talks of an Open Beta floating around as a rumor as well as the developers promising that "additional opportunities" for players outside North America are coming, it’ll be interesting to know what we have in store as we approach the release date on September 23rd.
Until then, looks like we’re all together in waiting for the next chance to get our hands on the game once more.
